What a month August has been! We’ve had Fun Runs, Mother’s Day, E.P Family Sports Day, Summer Camps, EV 3, Art Contests, English Contests, Debate contests and much more.
Mother’s Day was held at school on the 12th of August and was a beautiful morning ceremony. The whole auditorium was full of mothers, as this was the first year the English Program invited all mothers from grades k1-G12. It was truly amazing. It was capped by grade 9 student Tangwa’s tear bringing speech about how much she loves her mother and how much her mother has given her. Even though they aren’t from a rich family, her mother works three jobs so she can come to the English Program. Mothers and students alike were proud to be invited to such a nice ceremony.
After the mothers’ Day ceremony was E.P Family Sport Day. We played basketball, underwear relay, eggplant/orange relay, water-balloon pass and many more fun games. It was fun for everyone and we had great teacher involvement. Just look at the pictures and the laughs we had. And then off for another 4 day weekend, again!
This month Srithammarat Suksa English Program participated and won several different contests. About 30 different students won separate contests. We are so proud of each student and their achievements. Without mentioning real names, 2 of the best students won serious competitions. One grade 12 student, Fuse, won a debate contest at a local university against university and high school students from all over the south of Thailand. Great job! And one Grade 3 student, Ploy or “Super Ploy” went to a national English and Science contest in Bangkok and is now in the top 10 of the country(out of 997 that came out of only the top 1000 invited) and will go for the final stages next month. TOP 10 IN THE COUNTRY! She is truly an AMAZING STUDENT and we wish her all the luck she probably doesn’t need. The school is truly blessed to have so many amazing students.
EV 3 grades are going home on the 31st. Then it will be time to start reviewing for final tests! WOW term 1 is almost over.
Next Month-Get ready for Final Exams, Revival week, Provencal sports competition results, AND MID-TERM VACATION,,YEAHH!!!!

A few weeks ago, we had a wonderful “Wai Kru” Day. Which is a day where Thai students pay respect to their teachers.
The students do this by crawling up and giving the teachers a bundle of flowers they have made/gathered and do the traditional Thai “Wai”. This was a beautiful morning celebration and as always brought an awesome cultural understanding to all the new foreign teachers involved. Thai students and the Thai public have a deeply rooted respect for the education system and educators. It is always an amazing celebration to take part in. Teacher Brooke, gave a great speech about her years teaching in Thailand, and how different it is teaching here than in her native America. We will all be looking forward to this ceremony again next year. We have also had parent / teacher meetings for all the grade levels. It was nice to meet the parents behind our wonderful students. It was also great to the parents to meet all the new staff and give there concerns for the new school year. We hope that all parents will want to know and be apart of their child’s journey with us in the English Program. We had our annual “E.P. Teachers Relationship dinner” where all the E.P teachers, Thai and Forgien, got together to enjoy a wonderful meal and play some fun games. Even the director came out to join us in the musical chairs and balloon popping festivities. Although we get to play together a lot at work, it is always fun time and a great reason for good food! We have just finished our first round of evaluation testing and are busy realizing that mid-term is right around the corner. Thanks to all the teachers for their hard work! July is coming with may holidays, Sport Day, Mid-Term, and Field trips! So stay tuned for more updates, and have a look at our Gallery for all the pictures! God Bless Everyone!

English Contest
Sithammrat Suksa School recently held their annual “English Contest” where over 2000 students, from 5 provinces, ages 4-18 came to test there English abilities. English Contest XVI was a great sucess with so many smiling faces and eager minds trying their best. This was the first year in which English Program students from all schools were seperated from regular program students for both the wrtitten and oral parts (matthayom) of the test. The contest is put on by the school with only minimal help from the E.P. It is great to see so many people involved with English and young learners using the language!
The results will be out on the 12 of Dec, so check back to see if you know any of the bright young English learners. The English Program is proud of all the students who participated in the English contest and hopes they will continue to study hard and keep reaching for the best!

Grade 4 went to the City Museum in Tung Talad Park on Tuesday. We studied the history and geography of Nakhon Si Thammarat, as we are trying to find the answer to the question ‘Why did Nakhon Si Thammarat become a big city?’ for our Language Arts class. We had a great day!

Hello Everyone and Welcome Back!
We hope everyone had a great vacation and are ready for a fresh start to term 2. Just as vacation seemed to fly by, don’t forget term 2 usually seems to go much faster with all the holidays and special days. All students enjoyed their mid-term break camps to several different resort areas around Thailand. As we start off the new term some upcoming dates of interest are Loy Kratong, November 2, where all Thais will go to float there banana leaf boats down the river to represent the coming rainy season (for the south) and to wash away their troubles. Term 2 field trips will start around Nov. 17th. Trip to Bangkok for the E.P. contest on Nov. 21st and the Srithammarat Suksa English Contest on Nov. 28th. This is going to be a great term so check the website for more updates.

English Program Sport’s Day
Last week, the Matthayom and Prattom English programs joined together for a fun-filled afternoon of sports competitions. Every student was on one of four sport teams, each represented by a different color. Points were added to teams that finished or won a variety of games. The events started out with a message from the director of our school, which was followed by two separate basketball games played by teachers and students. Afterward a variety of sports games including hit the pot, underwear relay, sack races, and water balloon tosses were also played. In between each game, student teams held cheering contests. Overall twas a great way for students to cheer, play, and have fun together.
